Milena, eine Frau mittleren Alters, ist vor allem eines: Ehefrau und Mutter. In einem gediegenen Viertel in Belgrad hat sie sich ihr Leben gut eingerichtet. Ab und an besuchen sie ihre beiden erwachsenen Kinder, manchmal geht sie zusammen mit ihrem Mann Vlada aus, um mit befreundeten Paaren zu plaudern und zu trinken. Ein Besuch beim Arzt schreckt Milena auf: Sie hat Brustkrebs, wohl schon seit Längerem. Doch es ist nicht die Krebsdiagnose, die ihr Leben radikal verändert. Vielmehr ist es eine Entdeckung, die sie kurz darauf beim Aufräumen in ihren eigenen vier Wänden macht: Auf einer Videokassette, die sie im Schlafzimmer entdeckt, sieht sie, wie Vlada und einige Männer im Jugoslawienkrieg Unschuldige hinrichten.
